From Julie Mason of the Houston Chronicle:
Paul, an anti-abortion Republican who is against the war in Iraq and favors an economic policy that includes a return to the gold standard, is still a long-shot in Iowa and beyond. So basically, Ron Paul is a uniter because he combines right wing viewpoints of economic conservatism with the right wing viewpoints of social conservatism. Man, if only there was a political party for people like that? But what in the world wold you call them?
"He seems to attract a wide assortment of people with all different agendas," said Dennis Goldford, a political scientist at Drake University. "For example, he has got this Libertarian streak, and yet he combines it with an anti-abortion stance — he cuts across normal party division."
